Good communication is key in all business transactions. Knowing this, I (Matt) established a rule for Modmacro early on that has helped us be immensely successful with regard to communication with our clients. Put simply, our rule is that our primary point of contact at any of the organizations with which we work needs to be a decision-maker. By decision-maker, we mean someone who has the authority to discuss and make decisions on things like pricing, project timelines, scope of work, and project details. They must also be authorized to sign contracts and initiate payments.
What we aren’t saying is that we’ll only talk to decision-makers. We are happy to work with other members of your organization on projects. This is actually quite common. For example, when we create a new website for a small business, we may work with someone other than a decision-maker on the site’s verbiage. Or when we design custom software, we will often work with a project manager who will be one of the end users. But as far as our main point of contact is concerned, we have found that it’s extremely important that we have direct access to a decision-maker. It avoids the delays related to “I have to get approval on this price before we can move forward,” or “I’ll have to run this by my boss before you can publish that blog post on our site.” It also streamlines communication, as there is a single person who is able to make the final call on the numerous decisions that need to be made when dealing with a web design and marketing company like us.
When you work with Modmacro for digital marketing, web design, software design, or any of the other services we provide, you will always deal directly with a decision-maker as well (me). There are other people on our team with responsibilities regarding the work we produce and deliver, but our clients never have to deal with multiple people when it comes to decision-making—just me.
One of the reasons we work almost exclusively with small businesses and nonprofits is because we enjoy the nimbleness with which they operate. There aren’t layers of management to wade through before decisions can be made. Those are the people we love working with. They get things done.
It’s our goal at Modmacro to help make your small business or nonprofit more successful! Working directly with decision-makers allows us to work more efficiently and provide you with the best results possible.
